Vinted Users Express Displeasure Regarding Sizing Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has altered its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches similar services.
It has advised users to review their products and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Updates
Before the change, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Platform Context
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: earlier, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
