Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his initial title for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a former number one, has endured a challenging year, managing just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with former trainer Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first championship following the Italian tournament and first on a hard court after that period of that year.

The win also signifies Medvedev has achieved 21 titles at 21 distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my children simultaneously, so to win a title is especially meaningful," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my child her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my child her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six finals, comprising in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted commentators to question if his skill to compete at the highest level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform positively, backed up by an enhanced service.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the final five games to take the lead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden tour victory, seized the initiative to create a decider.

He defended four early-game opportunities in a tight third set before the champion won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner secured victory with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
