The accused admitted 17 criminal counts at the courthouse on Friday

A man who contaminated treats with tranquilliser and provided them to youngsters at a youth camp in the area has admitted sexual offenses against two children who were between nine and ten.

The accused was detained after eight minors and an older person became sick at Stathern Lodge in the summer month.

The senior citizen, from that region, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the courthouse on the end of the week.

Yet, he refused to admit one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was against a nine-year-old child.

The accused was kept in jail prior to a subsequent court date on late November.

'Treat game'

The prosecutor, presenting evidence, detailed the criminal behavior to the court.

She explained his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a summer program which he managed.

The defendant played a "sweet game" with the children, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to ingest treats "rapidly".

She told the court the defendant had engaged in this activity with the children "repeatedly", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the next day.

She explained the man had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the youngsters being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had concerns in summer 2025.

Mrs Prior KC stated further: "In the summer" his family member had worries about the activities, justifiably.

"They chose" to have a look in the man's possessions."

Mrs Prior KC explained items including baby oil, Vaseline and injection devices were found, and his stepchild alerted the authorities about his suspicions.

She said the man proceeded to play the "sweet game" with six youngsters that time - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the following morning.

"Authorities" had not arrived by that point," she stated further.

The oversight body, the investigative body, previously told that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.

The legal representative stated the minors were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the stepson called the law enforcement a second time.

She stated Ruben then engaged in the "treat game" in a area of five minors.
