I'll overwhelm 'legitimate fighter' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight-round match which will be streamed live on Netflix.

Briton Anthony Joshua declared he will "overwhelm entirely" the American and "break" the American as the combatants confronted each other to build hype for the upcoming boxing match.

Ex twice world heavyweight champion Joshua faces YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul - in what is, on paper, a massive disparity - at Miami's venue on 19 December.

Boxer's Mindset

"I will injure his face and break his body up. I aim to demonstrate I'm superior," Joshua, 35, stated.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's the boxer's mindset.

"I will seriously aim to injure him. That's my intention."

Civil Interaction

Despite such comments, a composed Joshua and internet personality Paul - typically recognized for his dramatics - shared friendly words and kept it respectful with each other.

Jake Paul rather criticized ex Joshua opponent the Cameroonian fighter and described him as "ridiculous" after Ngannou rejected a bout proposal.

Taking Aim at Tyson Fury

Anthony Joshua, meanwhile, took aim at UK rival Tyson Fury - and declined a large bet 'The Gypsy King' says he will place on a Paul victory.

"Jake Paul is superior to Tyson Fury - he's present here," the boxer said.

"I respect him for that."

Serious Opponent

Despite declaring he will damage his opponent, Joshua chose not to comment unfavorably about his opponent's pugilistic talent.

"Jake is a credible opponent," he stated.

Jake Paul's Background

Jake Paul - who originally gained popularity on the Disney Channel - has primarily boxed mixed martial artists or faded names since entering professional boxing.

He lost to British fighter Tommy Fury in 2023.

Financial Success

Nevertheless, the relative newcomer is still one of boxing's biggest commercial attractions, regularly earning substantial financial rewards.

Forecast and Belief

The 28-year-old anticipated a KO victory in rounds four or five and asserted he would prevent the much-anticipated Joshua–Fury fight, which is apparently in the works for 2026.

"It will be my match with Fury next year," Paul said.

Physical Difference

As Joshua and Paul met for the usual face-off, with their size difference on show, it highlighted just how improbable this whole event is - and how astonishing it is that the match is actually proceeding.
